Our Oscars Party and First Submissions Deadline

Some announcements for the month of February:

Oscars Party:

In the glamorous San Fernando Valley, north by northwest of Hollywood and Highland, we’re having our own Oscars event.  Bridging the gap between studio produced and independently funded will be our own celebration replete with big screen and sexy audience.  Here are the details:

Sunday, February 26, 2012, beginning at 2:00 pm
The Whitefire Theatre, 13500 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91423

Cinematic Cocktails and Red Carpet at 2:00 pm
B-I-N-G-O and Live Awards Broadcast at 4:00 pm
Other surprises and mayhem until the broadcast is over, or midnight, whichever comes first

Tickets are $15 now or $20 at the door.  Ticket proceeds benefit VFF12.

VFF12 Submissions Deadlines:

We are near the end of our first submission period, where entrants “pay what you can.”  During this time, filmmakers may pay whatever they like for an entry fee, including nothing.  If they pay little or nothing, we request that they do something additional that is of their own choosing, inexpensive, and helps promote the festival.  This could include, for example, “liking” the festival on Facebook, or perhaps distributing some useful information or praise via Twitter.

After this initial period, the entry fees rise gradually until mid-July, and are always the same for short and feature-length films.  Here is the schedule of dates and fees (US dollars) per film:

January 15 - February 11, 2012 -- pay what you can
February 12 - March 31, 2012 -- $25
April 1 - May 15, 2012 -- $50
May 16 - June 30, 2012 -- $75
July 1 - July 15, 2012 -- $100

We seek quality narrative / fiction films, documentaries, animation, and music videos that were produced independently anywhere in the world.  The films or filmmakers may have some connection to the San Fernando Valley area, but this is not required.

The tentative festival dates are November 7-11, 2012 at a Valley venue to be announced later this year.  Stay tuned.
