The Valley Film Festival Concludes Its Thirteenth Season


North Hollywood, CA (November 21, 2013) – The Valley Film Festival has completed its thirteenth annual season of independent film from around the Valley and the world.  On closing night, the festival presented juried and audience awards.

Along with social events at JET Studios, the festival screened over forty films at the Laemmle NoHo 7.  These films were entertaining and provocative documentaries, fiction films, animation, experimental films, and music videos.  Nearly half were filmed in the San Fernando Valley, or had some other direct connection to it.  Eleven came from other countries including Brazil, France, Russia, Morocco, and the United Arab Emirates.  Nine films were World or North American premieres. 

On closing night, the festival presented the following awards:

JURIED “10 DEGREES HOTTER” AWARDS:
Short Film - MANDEVILLA (Andrew Oh)
Feature Narrative - THE GOLDEN SCALLOP (Joseph Laraja)
Feature Documentary - CINEMABILITY (Jenni Gold)

AUDIENCE AWARDS:
"Girls on Film" Shorts - TIE - OPERHATOR (Tara-Nicole Azarian) and JAMON (Iria Lopez)
Family Shorts Program - POSEY THE MOVIE (Billy DaMota)
Dramatic Shorts - DESOLATE ROAD (Marwan Abderrazzaq)
Comedy Shorts - MAN UP, LITTLE BOY (Jeffrey Williams)

Looking ahead, The Valley Film Festival will begin accepting submissions for VFF14 in January.
